Pope Francis is coming to Philadelphia this week, and the whole town is in a whirl. Welcome signs and banners with the Holy Father’s picture are everywhere, and people of all ages, carrying green World Meeting of Families backpacks, are filling the streets with their smiles.
One thing it’s hard not to notice is the invitation to “Enter the Story Now.” It’s on every SEPTA bus stop, wrapped on some buses, and its pictures of families fill the windows of the new American Bible Society (ABS) headquarters at 5th and Market.
Each poster asks a single question:
- Has your family weathered a storm?
- Has your family danced for joy?
- Has your family asked, Now what?
- Has your family prayed for the impossible?
- Does your family have a child who wants to come home?
At the bottom, they simply read: EntertheStoryNow.com.
The website is an initiative of the ABS that encourages families to enter the Bible and discover a word from God to them in Scripture. Connected to each family story is a passage from the Bible along with related reflections, prayers, and downloads; sharing guides, family activities, email devotionals, and resources. I was privileged to consult on the site and write the main reflections, which I hope will encourage people – and families and parish groups – to spend some time in the Word together.
Even if you’re not at the World Meeting of Families, I hope you will enjoy the site! Go to Enterthestorynow.com and click on “Find Your Family’s Story.” Choose one of the Family photos and click on “This is our story.”
May you and your family find blessings in the Word!
